Our oil & gas team consists of: JOHN A. YOUNG, Q.C..
BOYNECLARKE's Oil and Gas Team acts on behalf of businesses that supply and support the offshore/onshore energy industry in Atlantic Canada. We have a thorough working knowledge of the industry since its inception a quarter-century ago, including knowledge of the potential for oil and gas development as well as the difficulties in realizing that potential in our region.

When the client presents us with an issue, rather than construct a series of legal objections and roadblocks, we look for ways to help them achieve their objectives. Because of our deep experience in Government Relations, we know how to navigate the regulatory environment. We know which level of government to deal with for any given issue, saving time and resources.

Our Oil and Gas practice is closely integrated with our Corporate & Commercial (Finance and Construction), and Labour and Employment Teams. At BOYNECLARKE, teamwork is the foundation of our success.

The Oil and Gas Team served as general counsel and provided strategic advice to the first company to receive approval for the construction of a natural gas distribution network in the Maritimes. We acted in all of the hearings and obtained all of the regulatory approvals required for them to obtain and implement their franchise.

Members of this Team provide the following services:

  • Create corporate structures
  • Create regulatory agreements and rate applications
  • Appear before the National Energy Board and the Utility and Review Board
  • Create development and operating agreements
