LEAH D. (TINKHAM) RIMMER, was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Leah proudly attended Acadia University and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Recreation Management (Honours) with a concentration in Sport Management. Leah attended Dalhousie University where she graduated with both her L.L.B. and M.B.A. in 2004. After articling with Boyne Clarke, she was called to the Bar in 2005 and since that time Leah has been an associate with the firm, practicing exclusively in the area of business law.
Leah is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Halifax City Soccer Club. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Associated Alumni of Acadia University (2006-2010), a former member of the Board of Directors of Metro Community Housing Association (2004-2009); and the Board of Directors of Metamorphic Theatre (2006-2007).
In Leah’s legal practice, her focus is entirely on the area of business law. In addition to providing legal advice to her clients on a full range of general commercial matters, she is involved daily in the purchase and sale of businesses (share and asset sales), corporate reorganizations, drafting and negotiation of lease agreements, business incorporations and registrations, and commercial financing and commercial real estate transactions. Leah has a particular interest is supporting owner-managed business operations and she enjoys and is committed to being part of the owner-manager’s “team” of professionals. Leah is also the co-chair of Boyne Clarke’s articling committee and in this role she is jointly responsible for overseeing the firm’s many student recruitment initiatives and the interview process.
In addition to spending time with her husband Darren and their young son Sam, in her personal time, Leah enjoys all aspects of physical fitness, especially long-distance running and soccer. She has participated annually in various distances of the Bluenose International Marathon and plays soccer year-round with the Halifax City Soccer Club of the Senior “B” women’s division.
