LEAH D. (TINKHAM) RIMMER, was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Leah attended Acadia University and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Recreation Management (Honours) with a concentration in Sport Management. Leah also graduated from Dalhousie University in 2004 with both her LL.B. and M.B.A. After articling with BOYNECLARKE, she was called to the Bar in 2005 and since that time Leah has been an Associate with the firm.

In Leah’s legal practice, her focus is entirely on the area of business law. In addition to providing legal advice to her clients on a full range of general and complex commercial matters, she is involved daily in the purchase and sale of businesses (share and asset sales), corporate reorganizations, drafting and negotiation of lease agreements, business incorporations and registrations and real estate transactions. A portion of Leah’s practice is dedicated to commercial financing matters, both on the borrower and lender side.  Leah recognizes that attention to detail, organization and timeliness is key to these matters and prides herself in her abilities in these areas. She works extremely well under pressure and is continually focused on “closing the deal” smoothly and on time.  Leah also has a genuine interest in supporting owner-managed business operations and she is committed to being part of the owner-manager’s “team” of professionals. Leah’s clients are across the spectrum of industries, however, she enjoys a particular concentration in advising independent pharmacy owners on a variety of business matters, including leasing and mergers and acquisitions.

Leah is a true believer that BOYNECLARKE is an exceptional law firm with extraordinary lawyers, staff and clients. For this reason, she also takes a keen interest in the business of the firm.  Currently, she is in her 4th year as the co-chair of BOYNECLARKE’s articling committee and in this role she is jointly responsible for overseeing the firm’s many student recruitment initiatives and the student interview and hiring process. Leah is also the Chair of our Associates Group and in that role is responsible for chairing meetings, making proposals to management, coordinating social and marketing events and consulting on various business, budgetary and personnel related matters.

Leah is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Halifax City Soccer Club. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Associated Alumni of Acadia University (2006-2010), a former member of the Board of Directors of Metro Community Housing Association (2004-2009); and the Board of Directors of Metamorphic Theatre (2006-2007).

In addition to spending time with her family and friends, including her husband Darren, their young sons Sam and Joe, Leah enjoys being outdoors and all aspects of physical fitness, especially long-distance running, soccer and skiing.
