Kelly was born in Edmonton, Alberta and received his B.A. from the University of Calgary in 1999 (portion of program at ITESM, Campus Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico).  He then received his LL.B. in 2002 from the University of Alberta and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2003.

As a member of the Business Law Team, Kelly practices in the areas of Corporate / Commercial Law, Franchise Law and Business Law.

Kelly helps both large and small business clients from a wide range of sectors, including professional, retail, real estate development, banking and industrial.  He focuses his practice on business structuring, business financing, the acquisition and sale of businesses, and commercial real estate. Kelly has a particular interest in helping heath care professionals with all aspects of business and regularly speaks to groups of health care professionals on a variety of business-related topics.

When he’s not practicing law, Kelly enjoys sports and volunteers with the Kiwanis Club of Dartmouth, Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia, Habitat For Humanity, and is a member of Penn Hills Golf Club.  He is also a member of the University of Alberta Law Olden Bearristers Alumni Rugby Football Club and is currently the vice-president of the Halifax Branch of the University Of Alberta Faculty Of Law Alumni Association.
