Born in Ottawa, Ontario, John was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1985 and in Nova Scotia in 1990. He obtained his Bachelor of Education (1978) and his Bachelor of Arts (1977) both from St. Francis Xavier University. He obtained his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1983. John is a Member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Nova Scotia Barristers Society. In his down time, John enjoys golf, sea kayaking (construction\paddling), guitar, more golf.
